Introduction

Date: Tuesday, February 7, 2023
Time: 9:00am - 10:00am PT
Duration: 1 hour

NVIDIA Virtual Reality Capture and Replay (VCR) enables developers and users to accurately capture and replay virtual reality (VR) sessions for performance testing, scene troubleshooting, and more.

Attempting to precisely recreate a user’s VR experience—e.g., for QA or debugging—is time consuming, and sometimes may not even be possible. VCR makes replaying VR sessions both accurate and painless. The tool records time-stamped head-mounted display (HMD) and controller inputs during an immersive VR session. Playback is 1-click as well and can be viewed on the desktop without having to use the VR HMD. In addition to supporting recording and playback, VCR also comes with a C++ API, so developers can read, edit, and write VCR session files. With just a few lines of code, you can re-time a session, slowing down or speeding up different parts of the action; you can edit controller inputs; and you can even filter controller and HMD tracking data to remove noisy motion. VCR streamlines the recording, playback, and editing of VR sessions.

By attending this webinar, you will learn:
  • How NVIDIA VCR solves a common VR development and QA problem
  • How VR users can easily record VR sessions and play them back for a variety of use cases
  • How VR developers can leverage VCR to better debug and QA VR scenes, quickly validate feedback, and filter recorded VR sessions
Join us after the presentation for a live Q&A session.

Speakers

Alex Coulombe

Agile Lens, CEO

Designer, developer, and educator, Alex has always had a passion for employing emerging technology in creative visions. In 2010 he graduated from Syracuse University with a B. Arch and after working for several architecture firms, immersive tech became his focus when the Oculus DK1 hit the market. In 2013, he pioneered the world's first use of VR for accurately testing sightlines and adjusting room design based on the results. His work in highly-customized VR solutions grew and culminated in the formation of Agile Lens.

Ingo Esser

Principal DevTech XR Engineer, NVIDIA

Ingo Esser is a principal developer technology engineer in the Professional Solutions Group at NVIDIA, where he works with independent software developers (ISVs) on creating high quality visualization applications, with a focus on XR and multi-GPU support.

Marc Arends

Senior Software Engineer, Product Development and Manufacturing Solutions, Automotive, Autodesk

Marc is a software engineer at Autodesk working on the VRED product line with a focus on augmented reality and rendering. He ensures VRED supports the latest VR headsets and works on features customers need for immersive product reviews in virtual and mixed reality. Prior to joining Autodesk in 2016, he worked as a researcher for Fraunhofer, where his work included investigating augmented reality integration in bio-medical labs. He holds a degree in computer science from the University of Koblenz-Landau in Germany, where he studied computational visualistics.
