Aydin Polat
Machine Learning EngineerAydin Polat, PhD, is a Machine Learning Engineer at Dessa who is passionate about identifying real-world applications for state-of-the-art AI advancements. At Dessa, Aydin is one of the team’s lead contributors to building a platform for developing and putting enterprise-grade AI systems into production at scale. As part of the Enterprise Solutions team, he also collaborates with business and technical teams to blueprint, build and deploy AI for some of the world’s largest companies. Before joining Dessa, Aydin cultivated experience applying deep learning to solve real-world problems in industries ranging from healthcare to space technology. Aydin has a PhD in Machine Learning from Middle East Technical University in Turkey, where he completed a thesis on hyper-parameter search and feature reuse of deep learning models for computer vision.
Ian Xiao
Engagement Lead at DessaIan Xiao is an Engagement Lead at Dessa who helps some of the world’s largest companies build and deploy high-value applications for deep learning in their businesses. With distinct expertise in finance, Ian has worked with top-tier banks on AI use cases relevant to a diverse range of functions, including Marketing, Operations and AML. Ian’s first experience with AML strategy was in 2012, when he helped a leading Canadian bank transform its AML strategy using Big Data and Analytics. Today, he believes banks can build even better AML solutions by using today’s advanced AI techniques. Before joining Dessa, Ian was a Senior Consultant at Deloitte Canada, where he was a recipient of the firm’s Best Analytics Delivery award. Ian has his Masters of Science in Public Policy and Data Science from New York University, in addition to a Bachelor of Computer Engineering from The University of Toronto.
